Hi, I go by Spence. I made this website to have a digital presence outside of social media.
In no particular order:
- I currently live in (and am in ❤️ with) Bologna, Italy. Hit me up if you're interested in moving here! Previously I was based out of San Francisco, CA, and Austin, TX before that.
- I'm a Software Engineer by education and trade, but I dabble in a lot of other creative disciplines. Mainly, music though recently I've begun trying my hand at the visual realm too.
- I enjoy making (i.e. prototyping) stuff and I occassionally post what I've made or document my thought process here. I have a whole project section on my website for this.
- I previously led a small engineering team at Credit Karma, which was responsible for the platform behind the assets side of the company's product. I left the company after we were acquired, and am now working on my own startup.
- I have a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. During my time there, I lived in co-operative housing which began my love and fascination for what people can do together.
- I started a small co-living space that is located in the beautiful Presidio of San Francisco. It is a collection of 3 large houses next door to one another, where about 20 people call home, and has been in continuous operation for almost 10 years.
- These days I'm interested in quality of life, and, specifically, exploring answers to the question of "how can we best make use of the systems and abstractions already in place to improve what really matters to human beings?"
