Instead of using the subject, wouldn't it be better, to use Plus-Mail-Adresses for identifiers, where the part after the plus defines the (hashed?) target? E.g.spenc.es+email-as-a-commenting-system@r3ply.com?

This would especially increase usability for people writing the comment, as you can define the subject as you like e.g. *Comment on "Email as a Commenting System" [spenc.es]*etc.
