Hi Mike! Thanks for your kind words.

I totally agree with email. Itโ€™s been totally undervalued as an interface.

I think maybe part of the reason why is that itโ€™s historically (and still is) kind of โ€œdifficultโ€. But, once you get it set up and working itโ€™s so nice. Iโ€™ve really been enjoying seeing people play with this, and just knowing that thereโ€™s a way interact with people on my website makes me feel so much more excited about writing content for my website (which Iโ€™m really bad about haha).

Thanks for stopping by! Please share any feedback. Especially stuff thatโ€™s critical. Itโ€™s Christmas right now so Iโ€™m it doing anything, but soon Iโ€™ll be iterating on all the feedback.

So happy to hear you like it. I will definitely let you know when itโ€™s open source (getting very close now).

Will I get an email when someone replies to my comment?

Good question! For now no, because I donโ€™t think that what people want. However, if you go to your comment[#78b770a4](https://spenc.es/comment/78b770a4>](https://spenc.es/comment/78b770a4), you will see an RSS link.

Every comment has an atom feed so people can opt-in to get notifications to when people respond to a comment. Thereโ€™s also a page of all comments, and you can even choose an alias.

But Iโ€™m grateful for your interest. Feel free to leave feedback anywhere on this site or just contact me.

There are some restrictions on the local part of the address portion of the email spec that limit the usefulness of this approach. Mainly the length and the allowed characters arenโ€™t very compatible with URL paths, so it just becomes problematic for it to work.

This has become less of an issue more recently because in the latest version (that Iโ€™m open sourcing soon), the hashing is no longer used in the subject line. Now itโ€™s just the resource youโ€™re commenting on, which also just aligns semantically with what a subject line is supposed to be.

Hey, thanks. The code is actually written, but Iโ€™ve been holding off on publishing it because I havenโ€™t had the chance to write the documentation while Iโ€™ve been moving. Luckily, things have started to stabilize, so I should be able to release it in a few months. Iโ€™d love for help too.

Thank you @andlyz! Maybe I will discover a new way to make coffee again one day and can then do another painting.
