There are some restrictions on the local part of the address portion of the email spec that limit the usefulness of this approach. Mainly the length and the allowed characters aren’t very compatible with URL paths, so it just becomes problematic for it to work.

This has become less of an issue more recently because in the latest version (that I’m open sourcing soon), the hashing is no longer used in the subject line. Now it’s just the resource you’re commenting on, which also just aligns semantically with what a subject line is supposed to be.
